Siegfried Palm

I miss an English page on Siegfried Palm greatly. The interwiki-link Siegfried Palm (in German) to his German page is helpful, and many lists on that page are comprehensible in any language (Grand Prix du Disque 1972 und 1975, „Chevalier du Violoncelle“ Indiana University, Bloomington USA) or the impressive list of composers who wrote for him - but I think that he deserves an English page. I started to insert the link to pages listing his name in red, - way to many, starting with cellist, quote: "The cello's versatility made it popular with composers in the mid- to late twentieth century such as Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Britten, Ligeti and Dutilleux, encouraged by soloists who specialized in contemporary music (such as Siegfried Palm and Mstislav Rostropovich) commissioning from and collaborating with composers." How to proceed?--Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:02, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

As I wrote to a this query at Talk:Darmstädter Ferienkurse: You just click on the red link, read the material above the edit box, and start the article. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 08:53, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
Thank you, I will - but can't promise when.--Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:01, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Category:German classical cellists?

Why is Graham Waterhouse categorised in Category:German classical cellists? -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 12:04, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

He is a cellist who has lived in Germany for most of his adult life. cmadler (talk) 13:06, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
He is also a cellist trained by teachers at German universities like Maria Kliegel and personally influenced by the great German cellist Siegfried Palm.--Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:38, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, that puts him into the Category:Classical cellists living in Germany. I thought that a person had to be German to fit into the Category:German classical cellists. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 08:53, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
I thought that a demonym could refer to citizenship, residency, or ancestry. For example, one could be German by ancestry, American (USA) by citizenship, and Canadian by residency? Of course, I don't know Waterhouse's ancestry or his current citizenship status. cmadler (talk) 14:00, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
I think nationality shouldn't matter too much in music. The appropriate category would be simply Category:Classical cellists - but it is quite empty.--Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:59, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
I basically agree that nationality is often a murky (and thorny) subject, but I'm not sure most Wikipedia editors see it in tghis inclusive way. See for example – at the very other end of the cultural spectrum – how the German Wikipedia classifies Chris Howland: as a Brit.
Having now visited Waterhouse's web site, I now completely agree with his categorisation here (as a German cellist). However, I think it might make matters clearer if the extent of his residency in Germany would be mentioned.
One other thing: I think the Category:Chamber music is meant for articles which deal with Chamber music and not to categorise individual chamber musicians or composers; I think that category should be removed from this article. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 13:24, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
