Inconsistency in Plot Regarding Age[edit]

If Mr. Chips was 69 in 1914, he cannot have been 83 in 1933. One age suggests he was born in 1845, while the other suggests he was born in 1850.John Paul Parks (talk) 20:56, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

In James Hilton's book he is born in 1848 and dies in November 1933 at age 85, everything is made quite clear there. The film seems to be quite confused in saying how old Chips exactly is. Another example: The school director says in the opening scenes that Chips is in Brookfield for 58 years (which would be the year 1928), while Chips states in the closing scenes that he is in Brookfield since 63 years (1933). --Clibenfoart (talk) 00:39, 23 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Brilliant film[edit]

Really one of the great films of all times--blatantly sentimental and all the better for it. It's virtually the only film that can move me to tears. Even reading about it makes the old waterworks go.

Information about degrees and Alma Maters[edit]

What is the source of this material ? There is no citation. Is it from the book? If so, that should be made clear. The film never provides this information.
