Merger proposal[edit]

I propose that Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) be merged into this page (Global Affairs Canada). As I understand matters, Global Affairs Canada is the current name of (an evolution of) the agency that was once known as the Canadian International Development Agency, and also known in the interim as the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD). The name change is mostly clear on the Global Affairs Canada page (this one), but not so clear on the sparser Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) page. CIDA no longer exists, so the CIDA article should remain as is, an article on a historically important body. - 178.203.233.217 (talk) 18:28, 3 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I second keeping CIDA as a separate page. While the former function of CIDA has been folded into Global Affairs Canada, the mandate and function of CIDA was distinct and there continues to be debate on the wisdom (or lack thereof) of merging CIDA into the former Department of Foreign Affairs (now Global Affairs Canada). As such, it is important to keep a record of the role and function of the former CIDA, if only for historical reasons.

Untitled[edit]

The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade /Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada is, under the government of Stephen Harper, the form of the merger between Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada. I have proposed that these two be merged into this article, and this one needs all the necessary template of a functioning Canadian government department. Sphinx?[edit]

The Sphinx page claims the head office building for the DFAIT is designed to resemble the Sphinx, which is not mentioned here or in the Lester_B._Pearson_Building page mentions. Anyone got a source on this or should the Sphinx page be fixed? Identity0 (talk) 14:01, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
