standard phone[edit]

I would like to see something about how Gizmo is a SIP using standard phone.. It is. You can call to the new SIP enabled gnomemeeting for instance from it. There has been some instructions around.. It's important with Gizmo. They provide their "Gizmo accounts" and stuff, but they do not object bypassing their stuff at all actually.

Gizmo5 mobile[edit]

Iphox[edit]

Take a look at iphox.com. The site is almost an exact clone of Gizmo Project]. Security Features?[edit]

Could someone please add a section briefly discussing the security of Gizmo? Are calls encrypted? What algorithms do they use? etc.

Peer-to-peer?[edit]

What is the justification for describing Gizmo Project as a "peer-to-peer VoIP network"? While the voice traffic is transmitted directly between peers, it is certainly not a pure peer-to-peer network since the SIP signaling goes through a central server at company's premises. Unless there are objections, I feel inclined to change the article to reflect this.--Teemuk 07:06, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that Gizmo is not a pure peer to peer, those are quite rare. Skype is called p2p, but it still needs central servers to work. I don't know if a totally decentralized communications program exists (yet). It isn't a pure client/server model either like Festoon, where all the traffic flows through a central server. Fair use rationale for Image:Gizmo Project Gear.svg[edit]

Image:Gizmo Project Gear.svg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use.
