The translation doesnt give the translation for benchod which really sets the tone for the sentence, (a tone of impunity). Benchod = "sister-******" in gujarati, and these males are regarded as pussies therefore using this swear-word supposedly "reasserts their masculinity". If the main word is omitted the rest of the translation is suspect as well.Bakaman 07:06, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
article on gharjamai is obscene, utterly male chauvinist and profoundly stupid[edit]
I am afraid that this description of Gharjamai has been written by someone who thinks that sprinkling obscenities on a page in Hindi/Punjabi/Urdu will go unnoticed except by speakers of these languages. I would let it pass if humour was the sole intention of this piece, but it is not. It demeans women, because gharjamais are husbands who live in the homes of the women they marry (which is anathema in a rigidly patriarchal set up0. This is alleged to destroy the masculinity of a man and he is defined as someone who licks the genetalia of his father-in-law(gaandchato)and so on. And this is the politest part of the article. Language issues[edit]
The hatred of Ghar Jamais on the subcontinent and level of their derision is such, that words that may be termed obscene are, instead, used in everyday conversation to describe Ghar Jamais - Although their literal translations may be considered obscene in normal usage, their original meaning has become secondary, and these phrases and words are used interchangeably in place of 'Ghar Jamai', 'GJ'. Cleanup[edit]
Article is full of obscene language. No verifiability for information in the article. Most references provided either fo not open or are not applicable to the information where they are cited. I have cleaned up the article.
Update : User:Alansohn thinks this is vandalism and has reverted it.
