PROD[edit]

Ok, thats fine with me. One of the strong factors for the PROD was that it was created by user:DonnPulley which is suspiciously similar to th subjects name, and knew things like how long he had been married and how many grandkids he has, which would be things I wouldn't expect a new article to have. Note to editors: I am the one who entered this article and am not very computer literate. This is my father and I am doing this as a legacy as well as something special for Christmas. I am trying to have other family members who are knowledgable with computers to help me on this project by providing the information you are requesting. I did list references for this entry as the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library, the National Association of Naval Photographers, the U.S. Department of Navy and NASA (goddard Space Flight Center) Although he is my father, he still has notable history in his accomplishments which are many. As you can see in the article, he was not only Truman's White House military photographer, but also was with Rear Admiral Byrd during the exploration of the South Seas, in charge of the development of all the intelligence surveillance photography during the Cuban Missile Crisis, was the photojournalist during Prime Minister Churchill's visit to President Truman aboard the USS Williamsburg in 1952 and worked on the 1972 Earth Resources Technology Satellite, today called LANDSAT for NASA. My research has come from pouring over Department of Navy commendations, newspaper articles (including the Tri-County News of Friday, June 25, 1993 for King City, MO), White House letters and memos, Lyndon Baines Johnson Library "Evening with White House Photographers" event of February 15, 1991, "Oral History" from the Truman Library, etc.. Again, I am not computer literate but am attempting to get help on how to properly submit what is being requested. The Photo[edit]

I find the photo to be way too personal for an encyclopedia article. Since this article has had some real questions about the notability of the subject, I think the photo really makes the article look like a puff piece. Is any other photo available? A simple portrait of the subject would be better than the "Champagne Anniversary" pose. A photo showing the subject doing photography or present at the events listed in the article might improve the odds of this article passing review when it is next discussed. I see your comments and will pull a different and more appropriate photo after the holidays. I wanted to include my mom as she is partly responsible for his ability to achieve everything that he accomplished throughout the years. I will let Mbisanz know as soon as the new photo has been uploaded as I do not know how to find the picture or how to attach it to the article. Thanks for all of your assistance in this. Other improvements[edit]

The photo is a really good replacement and adds to the authenticity of the article. While this effort is ongoing, another improvement would be to locate a photo taken by Mr. Pulley that can be posted without copyright restrictions. Since he was a government photographer, this might not be too difficult.

I see that the sources are now more specific. This is helpful, but I would encourage editors to add additional sources. Since all four quotes are from the same book, the article may still be vulnerable to charges that it is not fully verifiable. TheMindsEye (talk) 17:25, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Later life" section[edit]

This section needs to be reworked to look more biographical and less "timestamped". For example, saying "has been married for almost 65 years will soon be untrue. Soon he will be married for over 65 years, I presume. A better sentence would be "Pulley married his wife, Mary Virginia Pulley on MMDDYYYY". That gets rid of the problem of "almost". I've gone ahead and retitle the section to the more commonly seen "Personal life" instead of "later life". Keeper | 76 16:00, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
