Untitled[edit]

Someone needs to add some of George Fisher's most famous cartoons to this page. One cannot fully grasp who this wonderful man, an Arkansas treasure, was without showing some of his folksy down-to-earth cartoons. Especially the "Old Guard Rest Home." There also needs to be a picture of him.

Also, George's contributions to Arkansas culture were not limited to creating editorial cartoons. He was an excellent commentator on all things Arkansan. As an active member of the Rackensack Society George always joined all the evening's performers on the stage, guitar in hand, at the end of their monthly meetings where they collectively played and sang (and made up verses to) "Down in the Arkansas." I'm not positive, but I think George helped found the Rackensack Society, an organization devoted to the preservation of the traditional music of Arkansas.WLE 20:55, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
