Quartz[edit]

Geoff Nichols formerly played keyboards and rythym guitar for Birmingham heavy metal band Quartz, between 1974 and late 1979/early 1980 (He did not record on 1979's "Live Quartz", yet a fair degree of synth playing is present on their 1980 masterwork, "Stand Up & Fight"... whether these parts were written by him I do not know, he's not credited at all on the album). He then returned, under the name of Geoff Bate, to record vocals and keyboards on Quartz's 1983 sell-out album for Heavy Metal Records, "Against All Odds".

Edit: No, Geoff Nicholls did not return as Geoff Bate. They are two different people.

Edit (Again): Yeah, I recently realised this having bought their "Satan's Serenade" compilation, and remembering that anything written by someone contributing to allmusic.com is often a load of crap. Can't remember what band Geoff Bate was in before, but bass player Stephen McLaughlin, who replaced Derek Arnold for the aforementioned album, was previously in a band called Ezy Rider.

I recently created a Quartz page and put a note on this page with a link. Olliegrind 23:13, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Geoff Nicholls[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Geoff Nicholls's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 05:52, 4 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Geoff drummed as Bongo The Dog in the first (1975) series of ITV childrens' show Animal Kwackers before being replaced by Peter Eden for the second series in 1976. This deserves a mention.Romomusicfan (talk) 22:11, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
