Infobox geo changes[edit]

@Thenexttalk: Here is how places are handled in infoboxes for persons per {{Infobox person}}, MOS:GEO and other policies:

Place, First-level administrative division, country

You are repeatedly pipelinking Saurashtra which is WP:OR and is not going to fly. Agencies were/are not administrative divisions, they represented monarchial agents and are/have never been added to infoboxes.

You have also added Maharashtra to the death place, we try to limit place parameters to 3; when city-subdivisions (only when relevant) are added and the city itself is well-known states first-lvl adms (states etc.) are avoided. Gotitbro (talk) 17:55, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, Kathiawad is not a administrative place also Saurashtra is also not an administrative place. See the search results of Kathiawad and Saurashtra in Wikipedia. In that scene by adding Kathiawad, you also vandalis the Wikipedia policy. Secondly Western Indian agecy are group of all agency of former west india. If you know Bombay Presidency was much divided into princely states to ease of rule. Even Bombay Presidency have northern and southern region, so to distinguish this result, west Indian agency should be there. And lastly about adding Maharashtra, Maharashtra is a state of country India, and it should be there. So if you want only three subplace you should remove Kamathipura instead of Maharashtra as other editors with lots edits do earlier.

Discussions should be continued on article talk pages, moving here. I will repeat agencies have never gone and are not going in infoboxes, you are not going to change that without WP:CONSENSUS. Kathiawad is a sourced place of birth for her and goes in the ib, administrative-places are relevant when further specifying a place of birth not the place itself, Saurashtra is your WP:OR (you cannot just make policies up in edit-summaries to justify your incongruous edits and that she died at her brothel is implied in the article itself). Kamathipura as her place of work and death is especially relevant and what she is known for, I see no reason to remove it, and I have already explained Wikpedia policy on overlinking states etc. in such cases.

In summation, your edits are against precedent, consensus and are WP:OR which is not done. I will further invite Ab207 and Fylindfotberserk for comments. Gotitbro (talk) 18:38, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Further noting discrepancies in your edits, "present-day"/"now in" params should be uncapitalized and small (including parenthesis) and should be rarely used (only for non-major/unfamiliar cities, places etc.); also countries should never be linked in infoboxes. Hello. I think there is merit in dropping Kamathipura and adding "Mumbai, Maharashtra, India" in the death place because its inline with the instruction of "City, First-level administrative division, country." Relevance of Kamathipura neighbourhood to her death is better discussed in prose.

Since Kathiawad is a loosely defined region, determining its administrative division is speculative, therefore better to just leave it out. That said, WP:OVERLINKING of country and WP:INDICSCRIPT is a no-no. -- Ab207 (talk) 19:28, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kathiawad is neither place nor a region, it's a Peninsula. Officially, Saurashtra is also use for kathiawar region. So the reason given by Gotitbro is not valid in in any case. So I request remove kathiawar if you think Saurashtra is wrong. Thenexttalk (talk) 16:35, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Thenexttalk. Do you have any source which explicitly says that Gangubai was born in Saurashtra state or any other place in Saurashtra? Authenticity of the story?[edit]

People seem to be adding biography from what they've seen in the movie and unverified YouTube videos. The said timelines don't make sense, she is said to be fan of certain actresses, and to have met former PM of India later in life. Matching these, one would know that Nehru would have been long dead before said meeting.
