Annotation: The African American race has always had problems with education, whether it be a school somewhere in Detroit or a run down farm house because the city is too poor to support its children. This article talks about The influence a youth Development Program had on three children. So schools may not always be the best place to send your children it all just depends on the location. Parents need to do their homework first and decide if the school is going to help or hurt their children because you can often find better help outside of the school.

Annotation: New computers and gadgets just keep coming out, in fact if you do not know how to use electronics you are going to be out of the loop. This article calls this generation the iGeneration. It talks about now in these times you need to be electronically savvy, can the baby boomer and generation X generation really teach the kids of today what they need to know to operate now? Would home-schooling maybe hinder those children's progress? or by them not knowing is that better with the degrading morals of today? It is really a toss up but the article talks about the usage of electronics today with this new generation.

Annotation: With the increased need to be electronically savvy teachers have decided to help their children even more by teaming up with librarians. This team up is one that cannot really be found out in the home-schooling world unless you are pretty well connected. This article talks about that collaboration between teachers and librarians and the benefits that are deprived from that team up. A team up that home-schooled kids miss out on.

Annotation: I am sure the normal child that goes to school has at some point in there time of going to school felt the pressures that are tests. This article "Test and Performance ANXIETY" talks about the anxiety of high pressure tests. One way to maybe minimize the pressure from these kinds of tests would be to home-school. This way the child does not have to worry about being the last one left in the room as all the other children finished a long time ago. The child may also be better prepared because of all the one on one support as well as comfortable with the instructor (usually a parent) giving the test.

Annotation: The law has been changed many times as regards to education, whether it be who can be educated or how ones are educated the school system has changed dramatically in the past 100 years. This Encyclopedia talks about Assessment and Achievement Tests. Many are familiar with the famous case of Brown vs. The Board of Education the ruling in which the segregation of whites from blacks in the school system was to no longer be allowed. In the school system during those days the "education" the black child got was horrendous. They got outdated textbooks, little writing utensils and the teachers were very under-qualified. Home-schooling would have been better for those children there. Like-wise now in "the ghetto's" schooling is way under sub-par and it does not look good for those children in these towns. So home-schooling should indeed be a thing a lot of parents are looking at.

This article here talks about how one superintendent was fired after putting three years of her life into turning a school district around. So many times good teachers and good leaders in the schools are fired whether it be because they just got a new boss that does not like them or the rest of the school is failing or because they do not have seniority during budget cuts. But, with home-schooling there is no let down. If you are teaching the right things that you want your child to learn you will not have to worry about a good teacher getting replaced by a horrible one.

Annotation: This article talks about the miseducation the textbooks of one Milwaukee school. It talks about how the teachers found out that what they were having the kids study every night was actually misinforming them. This is one advantage of having your children in the public schools, the multitude of teachers could figure this out and correct it whereas if this had been a home-schooled textbook and the parents thought nothing of it because it comes from the state then when the time came for the children to enroll in college they might have had troubles. Hence, a good reason to send kids to public schools or do a lot of research on what books you give them.

Annotation: This article talks about the impact that socialness has on a child's education. It talks about the different social bearings whether it be the social game between a teacher and student or between a student and another student. If a student does not have a good relationship with the teacher they may not act good in class contributing to less learning than the other students. Also, if students do not have godd relationships bullying may take place and the environment is not safe and therefore the learning is not what it could be. Homeschooling eliminates a lot of these problems because it is done often with a family member and they do not have to worry about other kids getting in their way as they try to reach their full potential.

Annotation: This article talks about going to college and the process of getting ready to apply for different colleges and scholarships. This is where going to a public school can help they had guidance directors to help you and your family pick the right college for your children. It is a collaboration of parents and the school and can help your kid get into a better college then they would have alone.

Annotation: This article talks about the different cultures in this case the black culture. Many people have different cultures some that are not accepted in the world today. So a way to further an education of a particular culture in children is to home-school them. In this way they are not influenced by what they see or ridiculed and turned aside from what you are trying to teach and instill in them.

Annotation: This article talks about the rise of a black student to superintendent. A reason not to home-school is to prepare your children for the real world. If a parent ever intends to let their children leave their home it is best to expose them to the real world, the real workings of this system of things. In this persons case the hardships and joys that came from their school days helped them to further their education and reach this position of superintendent.
