Birthplace (and year)[edit]

Message left at my talk page:

Your post of Frank Sardo (Avianca) list him as born in Brooklyn. this is false. he was in reality born in Sicily. He would be insulted that this mistake was passed on. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.214.2.118 (talk) 22:22, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Apologies if I've got this wrong. Some sources when he was alive said he was born in Italy, but I based my edit on the funeral notice here. My experience is that funeral notices prepared with family involvement are usually more likely to get things right than press notices published during someone's lifetime. The funeral notice also said that he was 77 when he died, which I also accepted even though other sources in his lifetime said he was born in 1939, giving an age of 74/75. It was of course commonplace in the 1950s to cut a few years off a singer's age to increase their appeal to teenagers, and I assume that is what happened here. Any reliable information on his place and date of birth would of course be welcome. Ghmyrtle (talk) 23:11, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Name(s)[edit]

I am confused. The article starts by stating Frank Sardo Avianca who performed as Frankie Sardo... Then later it states he was born Frank Marco Sardo. Later still it notes he used the name Frank Avianca when being employed as a film actor. What exactly is what here ? Thanks - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 11:00, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

See User talk:Woodsprite53058#Frankie Sardo. A lot of unreferenced material was added in 2015 by his claimed wife, and I never got round to checking whether it was supported by WP:RS, I think. Ghmyrtle (talk) 14:43, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that. I have removed the part that said he was born Frank Marco Sardo, which was not supported by the cited source (he was, at birth, Frank Sardo Avianca). Therefore the rest makes sense now. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 15:45, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
