I don't think ballistics is used outside the field of forensic science, so I suggest we merge forensic ballistics to the more commonly used and shorter ballistics to get rid of the unneeded "forensic". - Mgm|(talk) 09:23, September 9, 2005 (UTC)

Maybe it's just me jumping to conclusions (just about my only form of excercise), but the statement "In the field of forensic science, forensic ballistics is the science of analyzing firearm usage in crimes" added to the statement "I don't think ballistics is used outside the field of forensic science" seems to disreguard the entire body of non-criminal firearms use. A few articles worth reading are: handloading, wildcat cartridge, shooting sports, defensive weapon, hunting, military and self defense applications of wound ballistics, sabot, light gas gun, flechette, SCIMTR, .40 S&W, and .45 GAP.
