Come to an agreement?[edit]

(JJH405 (talk) 04:51, 26 February 2016 (UTC))I see the email regarding edit warring. It is not my intention to get into a fight or be an abusive user. My position is simply that, while the newspaper article does exist, the article was written without any relation to what ended up transpiring. The individual in question did not plead guilty to those charges. The church has been working very hard to recover from what happened and including this content severely hurts the people trying to move past everything. Is there some kind of truce we can agree upon?(JJH405 (talk) 04:51, 26 February 2016 (UTC))[reply]

I've clarified what he plead guilty to per the cite ref. I think if a church Deacon serves jail time for masturbating in front of children he is mentoring for confirmation, and the Pastor ends up leaving the church over the attempted cover up , it's germane to an article about the church. If there's some valid reason for removing the material under Wikipedia's guidelines then please tell us (and cite the guideline), but I'm afraid it hurts the congregation's feelings isn't enough. I understand your point but the business over a cover-up turned out to be untrue. The deacon stepped down as soon as the charges were filed and the entire congregation would be able to attest to that. Unfortunately there is much much more to the story here ... however I'm quickly learning that nothing competes with something that seems to be a scandal. The church has been working hard to move past this... I just hoped not to have them end up with another obstacle in their path. (JJH405 (talk) 05:27, 26 February 2016 (UTC))[reply]

If this is the case, perhaps your time and energy would be better spent persuading the Times-Union to report on this so we can add more preferred information to the article.

BTW, this is not the only church in New York that we've included this sort of information on. See the last two paragraphs of this section on our article about St. Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Fortunately there I was eventually able to find some reliable sourcing on how that played out. Daniel Case (talk) 06:35, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
