Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Finest Hour are the 2016 Quartet Champions of the British Association of Barbershop Singers and therefore are a quartet of national and international importance. They scored the highest percentage score a British quartet has ever scored in over 40 years of existence. In July 2017 they represented Britain in Las Vegas and placed 28th at the biggest barbershop event in the world.

They have earned a right to be on this page as ambassadors of the barbershop genre and as role models for members of the society.

All the facts in the article are verifiable as can be seen by the citations listed on the page.

I add my contention of this article's speedy deletion, particularly under the CSD A7 criteria. I added {{Unreferenced}} and {{Refimprove}} templates to encourage addition of source citations, and soon thereafter, two reliable sources were added. They were in place prior to the {{db-band}} template's addition. This aricle's subject was in fact ranked as best quartet of its genre in the UK in 2016 and, among 55 quartets who competed internationally at the genre's highest level last month in Las Vegas, out of hundreds more who had competed at lower-level competitions around the world, this quartet placed 28th; these main claims are sourced, and additional reliable sources are forthcoming. As an experienced editor, I am working with the creating editor and the article is steadily being improved. I ask that the speedy deletion decision be reconsidered. —ADavidB 18:31, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
A non-creating editor, I've removed the {{db-band}} template, as suggested by its displayed text when improvements are intended. —ADavidB 18:43, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
