There were two contemporaries called Filippo Salviati. One was the topic of this article (1583-1614) and the other was his older cousin, Filippo Salviati (bishop) (1578-1634). It appears that both of them were members of the Accademia della Crusca. One of them was admitted as a member in 1604, and the other in 1610. We know that the Filippo Salviati admitted in 1610 was the friend of Galileo, and that he took the nickname ‘Affidato’.[1][2] The other Filippo Salviati was admitted as a member in 1604, and took the nickname ‘Intraversato’.[3] Both men had a ceremonial ‘pale’ and images for both of them are on Wikipedia Commons. The correct one for the Filippo Salviati who is the subject of this article is ‘Affidato’ and not ‘Intraversato’.Mccapra (talk) 21:03, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
