Q: I read a blog page / Twitter / Facebook post and it says masks don't work and the research is bogus. Why can't I say it here?

A: Wikipedia has verifiability and reliable sources policies that state you must provide "verifiable, reliable sources" for contentious claims in articles. In the context of medical claims, an even stricter policy, WP:MEDRS, applies.

Q: It's not a matter of opinion; I read the source material, and all the so-called evidence for masks is obvious nonsense that any rational person can see through.

A: Unfortunately, Wikipedia also has a no original research policy that does not allow users to make edits based on their own conclusions drawn from their own interpretation of source material. Please find some evidence from reliable sources to directly support your claim. In the context of this article, that generally means medical reliable sources.

Preprint about quantitative errors in Cochrane[edit]

Review of child masking[edit]

Their conclusion: “Real-world effectiveness of child mask mandates against SARS-CoV-2 transmission or infection has not been demonstrated with high-quality evidence. The current body of scientific data does not support masking children for protection against COVID-19.”

“Archives of Disease in Childhood is a peer-reviewed medical journal published by the BMJ Group and covering the field of paediatrics. It is the official journal of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.” - according to … er … our own article. A reliable source?
