A hatnote distinguishes between exocomets and interstellar comets, but we don't have an article on interstellar comets. It is a redirect to interstellar object.

Astronomers have felt sure that the Solar system would, occasionally, be visited by comets of extrasolar origin. But 2018's ʻOumuamua marked the first time a visitor was positively identified as a comet of extrasolar origin.

Interstellar object is a much broader topic, as it includes sub-brown dwarves, Jupiter-sized, Earth-sized, Mercury-sized bodies, not bound to any star, as well as asteroid sized, and iceberg sized objects, not bound to a star system.

Maybe any interstellar object, that gets hooked up so it loops around a star in a hyperbolic path, could be described as an interstellar comet. Don't actual Astronomers distinguish between visiting objects like ʻOumuamua, and Beta Pictoris's equivalent of Halley's Comet?

Currently, this article currently seems to conflate two topics. It conflates comets bound to other stars than Sol, which operate just like Halley's Comet, and the other local comets we have studied, but found around Beta Pictoris -- with objects like ʻOumuamua, a visitor to our Solar system.

Presumably objects like ʻOumuamua occasionally drop in on Beta Pictoris, and every other star.

ʻOumuamua is significantly different than Halley's Comet. If this article is going to cover both kinds, can't it be clearer in distinguishing between them... Geo Swan (talk) 23:48, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
