Team article names[edit]

For the teams that existed in NFL Europe, what's the best way to name the new team pages? I can't find examples from American football, but in soccer, I found examples where the new team takes the name, while the old team page is renamed to include the years (see Vancouver Whitecaps and Vancouver Whitecaps (1986–2010)). We could also name the pages to include the league, like Barcelona Dragons (ELF team) and Barcelona Dragons (NFL Europe team). Any suggestions? Thanks. The German Wikipedia has separate articles for the new team with the new team name disambiguated with ELF. Until they actually play (and even then perhaps for a while) the NFL Europe teams are by far the better known use of the term. Hobbitschuster (talk) 15:20, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What is the relationship between ELF and NFL Europe / WLAF? Are the teams left over from the old NFL Europe or did they buy trademarks or? There are many teams with identical names and colours to the old league. Kav2001c (talk) 03:35, 14 June 2022 (UTC)kav2001c[reply]

Professional League Notability[edit]

That's the wrong kind of football. This is an American football league, not soccer. The relevant guideline would be WP:NGRIDIRON, not WP:NFOOTY. This issue should probably be raised at Wikipedia:WikiProject American football instead. BilCat (talk) 07:23, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Should there be a section on the effect this league has had on the GFL?[edit]

The German Football League has been impacted quite a bit by this new league as is readily apparent from game results by Frankfurt or Stuttgart whose players mostly left for the ELF or by the fact that Ingolstadt or Hildesheim are no longer present in the GFL. Should this be mentioned here or in the article on the 2021 GFL season? Hobbitschuster (talk) 15:42, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Everything that happened to the GFL should be in the GFL's article's. In a few years, if the league will gain momentum and will harm other leagues, it may be relevant to add section about the impact on other European leagues, but for now it doesn't belong here.--StanleyKey (talk) 23:08, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Limits on non-American foreigners[edit]

The limit of 10 non-American foreigners on a team is not compatible with the Bosman ruling and is thus unenforceable (except for the unlikely case of more than 10 non-American non-EU citizens on a team). Also, there is an additional limit on Americans meaning no more than 2 can be on the field during any given down - this is, incidentally, the same rule as in the GFL. When to create the article on the 2022 season?[edit]

The German language Wikipedia already has an article on the 2022 season, but even if you don't speak the language, you can see it is full of guesswork with little concrete information. If the way teams were still shuffling around in a mad dash just weeks ahead of the 2021 kickoff is any indication, it might be a while before much can be said for certain about the 2022 season. On the other hand, I do not view it in much doubt that a 2022 season will happen and perhaps as early as the Championship Game later this month information regarding expansion and perhaps modifications to the mode (e.g. playoff expansion, additional divisions, division reshuffle etc.) might be released... So what do you think? Hobbitschuster (talk) 15:22, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Like you said, much of the info is still "guesswork" (to put it mildly). A new article should be created only when there's anything new to add (teams, schedule, TV deals and etc.) --StanleyKey (talk) 16:44, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think now may be the time to create the season article on en-wp, given that conferences and the playoff mode were announced today and the schedule seems to be getting worked on as well... Hobbitschuster (talk) 16:33, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Source is dead and full of malware"[edit]

In a recent revert this source was described as "dead and full of malware" and its claim regarding the attendance figure of the "All Star Game" was heavily doubted based on TV images... So... Can someone explain to me why the website seems to load fine on my end? Hobbitschuster (talk) 01:43, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Professionalized"?[edit]

What does "professionalized" mean in the lead sentence, and how is it supposed to differ from "professional"? BilCat (talk) 06:24, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It was changed to "professionalized" by an IP user per this diff in March, with the edit summary "Improved translation". Perhaps the user meant "semi-professional", but that would need some sort of reliable source. I've reverted the edit. BilCat (talk) 06:39, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
