History[edit]

Dear editors,

for this article, I would like to add a section regarding the history of the convention. Currently, there is only an introductory section. It somewhat resembles the one I am intending to add. However, I would like to expand on it by covering the following areas: the purpose of the convention, its objective, as well as the background. Additionally, it would introduce the actors of the convention, as well as a list of all the states which took part in it. Peer Review (CP)[edit]

Gabz11, I strongly believe that a “history of the convention” section would be very useful for the improvement and expansion of this article. This page is clearly a stub (I have the same) and therefore it can be overwhelming to edit this, however it seems as if your plans are feasible and you’d like to mention useful general information that the page lacks currently. Good luck! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nadiaalexandria (talkcontribs) 16:29, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Convention articles[edit]

Dear editors,

this article should definitely cover the articles of the convention in question. I would like to add a description of at least 5 articles that are deemed most significant. Each of the chosen articles should contain a brief description, with references to the original document. Currently, no such section exists. Gabz11 (talk) 09:15, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Legal Framework and Mechanism of the Convention[edit]

Lastly, I would like to add a section regarding the legal framework and mechanisms of the convention. It should explain the activities of its legal actors, such as the organs or the places to visit in case a person is deprived of their liberties. These should be two sub-sections. Additionally, drawing on another source, there could also be a section explaining the procedures of visits regarding the convention. Gabz11 (talk) 09:23, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I honestly think that there is everything to do in this article and you have great ideas. I do like the historical part that you want to add, it is of great interest and should be greatly expended. The actors part is the most important in my opinion, perhaps you could also look at what type actors played a role in the creation of the treaty (social movement? NGO? Politicians?). An important point to add in this leading section is whether or not there was any kind of controversies during the process.

Moreover, I guess that the legal framework that you want to add will be part of the implementation and its dynamic within different states? As all the members have signed and ratify this convention.

Lastly, I think that the list of the state should finish this article to give a final overview and perhaps it is a good idea to reflect on the process that some countries have encountered to ratify the law (i.e Turkey?). SPMChapel (talk) 09:22, 12 May 2020 (UTC)spmchapel[reply]

All your ideas seem great to me, especially the one about "convention articles" that could add some useful and relevant insights on your topic. Make sure that when you add this section to use proper referencing and neutral articles in order to not take a position on any sensible subject. Moreover, I think that SPMChapel's idea about adding the list of the sate at the end could give a good overview. Your section about the legal framework would be highly relevant to improve the article and maybe you could emphasize on the most important actors and their role but also how one can access such position. This article is clearly a stub and you have some great ideas regarding its expansion. I think that taking the 5 most important points of the convention and explaining them in a bit more detail would be very relevant and would give readers a quick overview of the type of agreement that it is. I agree with SPMChapel that a few sentences regarding possible controversies would also add quite a bit to the article. Ideally, it would also be nice if you could add a map of the countries that are signatories to the convention. You should also expand a bit on the amendments that were put in place and why those needed to be added. In general, I think you're on the right track to improving this article a lot! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Polscidam20 (talkcontribs) 10:55, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
