Improvement[edit]

Trimmed the notes. The introduction should be also improved as is it currently 3/4 only about old and new Olimpija. I would also rename Official statistics to Overall statistics or Titles won and merge old and new Olimpija's results so it is consistent with the rest of the article, where it is merged. --Sporti (talk) 10:00, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You cant merge stats from two different clubs and if you do that then I am sure the article wont pass the GA nominations in the future. Also, you made head-to-head stats with plenty of mistakes. Old Olimpija and Maribor never played twenty matches in the Yugoslav First League and never played as many matches in the Yugoslav Cup. Some matches were in lower Yugoslav leagues, not first division!Ratipok (talk) 12:37, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Data is from this article. It doesn't say Yugoslav First League, just Yugoslav League. But if Eternal derby is Maribor vs. old and new Olimpija, it should be merged (with a note like elsewhere), otherwise this page should only be Maribor vs. old Olimpija. But I believe Slovenian media, clubs and fans have accepted Eternal derbies with new Olimpija. --Sporti (talk) 12:52, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Seriously, are you that ignorant? Exactly what happens when you click on the "Yugoslav League" in head-to-head stats section? The link brings you to Yugoslav First League! Thats the problem and main concern that I have addresed to you and wanted to fix it, however, you didnt want to hear it. The whole section has to be fixed in a way that matches between the two clubs in first, second or third Yugoslav leagues will be sorted out and separated. Also, subsections cant be named "in Yugoslavia" or "in Slovenia" either.Ratipok (talk) 21:30, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And another thing. Dont bother with the statistics about the matches between Maribor and the old+new Olimpija. Officialy the new club has nothing to do with the old one and therefore their stats must be separated in this article. Most likely is that two separate article will be needed. One to cover matches between Maribor and NK Olimpija Ljubljana (1911–2004) and one for the Maribor vs NK Olimpija Ljubljana (2005).Ratipok (talk) 21:33, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes you can't have two articles in one, but all the Slovenian media adress all the matches between new Olimpija and Maribor as Večni derbi. So its De jure vs. De facto. --Sporti (talk) 05:32, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn matter how the media addresses the matches. Some media (like the Slovene State TV - RTVSLO) calls it the "Eternal derby", yet during the same article they confirm that legally the two club played only around a dozen matches. Head-to-head stats acording to prvaliga.si (official website of Slovenian PrvaLiga): link. And just for the info; Slovenian media prety much addresses any match as a derby:)).Ratipok (talk) 15:57, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe we should ask at WP:Football, don't know if there are similar cases elsewhere... (and also for example: "Slovenska prestolnica, natančneje nogometni stadion v Stožicah, bo v nedeljo prizorišče večnega derbija moštev z najdaljšo tradicijo v državi."[1], similar view as [2] or [3]) --Sporti (talk) 16:46, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am thinking somewhere in a line with; the lead (first paragraph representing the old rivalry 1962-2005), the middle that would explain everything that happened to the old Olimpija and its dissolution and the establishment of Bežigrad soon afterwards and at the bottom of the lead the representation of the rivalry between Maribor and Bežigrad (later Olimpija Bežigrad and finally Olimpija). All that would then be further explained (in detail) in the body and stats at the bottom (separated and represented in a way that its represented in all official documents).Ratipok (talk) 15:13, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

After considoration I think that its probabl the best idea that the Eternal derby article is, like the one about NK Olimpija, split into two different articles, one covering the old rivalry with the old Olimpija and the other covering the present situation. Will do it in the near future.Ratipok (talk) 22:41, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
