Chout[edit]

My understanding is that Prokofiev himself conducted the premiere of Chout. Ansermet may have conducted later performances, but not the premiere. Anyone know differently? -- JackofOz (talk) 10:07, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Collaboration with the Nazis"[edit]

This entry states: "Ansermet's reputation suffered after the war because of his collaboration with the Nazis and he was boycotted in the new state of Israel."

There are no examples given here of Ansermet "collaborat[ing] with the Nazis." What exactly is this supposed to mean? Did he collaborate with actual Nazi officials? If so, in what way? Or did he collaborate (i.e. musically) with other musicians who were living in Germany under the Nazi regime in the 1930s and 1940s? The citation to Sheffi's book Ring of Myths is a broken link.

Moreover, the reportedly anti-Semitic comments of Ansermet credited to him from his own book Les fondements de la musique dans la conscience humaine do not cite the actual, original source; rather they cite, second-hand, a footnote reference in another person's book — on Stravinsky.

There is also a bit of chronological sleight-of-hand or fudging going on here with reference to Ansermet's alleged "collaboration with the Nazis." The Ansermet book did not come out until 1961, yet it is lumped into the same paragraph as "Nazi collaboration."

These claims may possibly be correct — frankly, I dunno. However, a charge of "collaboration with the Nazis" is a serious, even explosive, matter; and it is not backed up here with any reliable examples or first-hand citations. This should either be backed up by original sources, rewritten to explain the exact nature of this "Nazi collaboration," or dropped. NicholasNotabene (talk) 22:30, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"Journey into Stereo Sound"[edit]

Decca's "Journey into stereo sound" LP, SKL4001, was issued in 1958 not 1957. No stereo LPs were issued in the UK in 1957. Barretter (talk) 16:04, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
