Colleges[edit]

The Emily Blackwell Society at Case Western says "The college ultimately merged with Cornell’s medical school. The infirmary eventually merged with Beekman Downtown Hospital and today is known as NYU Downtown Hospital." but Emily Blackwell article at distinguishedwomen.com says "Her medical college ... was closed in 1899 when Cornell University started admitting women students to their medical program. The infirmary still exists today as Beth Israel Medical Center." Could BIMC be part of NYU Downtown? I'm not sure what to put, so I'll let somebody else deal with it. Webster's Dictionary of American Women (ISBN 0765197936) says "By 1899 the college had graduated 364 women. In that year she transferred her students to Cornell University Medical College, which had begun accepting men and women students on an equal basis." DavidConrad 02:57, 17 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It is Elizabeth Blackwell and not Emily in the photo "Dr. Emily Blackwell, ca. 1860s".[edit]

The image on this page purporting to be Dr. Emily Blackwell is, in fact, her older sister, Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell. See, for example https://www.rijksmuseum.nl/nl/collectie/RP-F-2001-7-349-63. This photograph was taken by Ernest Edwards and appeared in the circa 1865 book "Portraits of Men of Eminence in Literature,Science and Art". It ought to be removed from here.
