Age[edit]

Born in 1932, not 1939 (as per Intelius search under the name Elmarie Wendel, which shows that Wendel is 77 years old as of today, November 28, 2009). I hate to be a cad, but the truth must out. [email protected] (talk) 01:36, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am restoring the 1939 birthdate, as all other available records indicate that year. An Intelius search results page is not considered a valid source, since it is a pay site which would require one to subscribe in order to verify how Intelius determined her age. In the absence of access to a published source, I am restoring the generally acknowledged birthdate. If you can provide an alternative source, feel free to restore your edits.Grandpallama (talk) 14:09, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I paid the $1.75 fee at Intelius and confirmed the year. Could you explain what available records you relied on besides IMDb and vampire/mirror sites, like NNDB, etc. which simply pick up info. from main sources and simply duplicate it? You don't even know the name of the town or county she was born in in Iowa. Nonetheless I will compromise (see change). [email protected] (talk) 19:04, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cite it goshdarnit! If that source is actually reliable (is it?) and it says "1932" and there is good evidence that the person is the same one intended (a tall order maybe?) then why don't you put that citation in the main article instead of here? Regardless of your source's reliability or non-reliability, it is of no consequence if it's only cited in the talk page. There is no justification at all for including the 1932 date in the article if the supposed source is only given in the talk page. 108.7.161.209 (talk) 00:43, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That Intelius site looks pretty sketchy to me. It looks like one of those marketing data collectors/aggregators/resellers. What could their sources be? Creepy. But that's just me. Pardon me while I vomit. 108.7.161.209 (talk) 03:13, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The Intelius site is inappropriate to be cited as a source for the article (regardless of your opinion of it). However, IMDB is equally unacceptable as a RS. As [email protected] rudely but accurately pointed out almost three years ago, the potential sources are vampire sites which take info from either IMDB or Wikipedia itself. As such, that leaves us with Intelius as the most reliable of the available sites. The fact that Wendel was born before 1939 is suggested elsewhere [1], too, but nowhere as strongly as in this interview she gave in 1969[2] in which she discusses setting off to pursue a showbiz life and leaving college in 1953--unlikely if she were truly born in 1939.
