Scope[edit]

As I understand, this article is about the electricity sector in modern Russia. So how does Chernobyl fit into this article, since the accident took place in the Soviet Union? Nuclear weapons also do not have anything to do with electricity in Russia. Therefore I have removed both sections. Otherwise, this is a nice article - good work. Nanobear, since there is no seperate article Electricity sector in the Soviet Union it is in my opinion relevant to include this history in this article at moment. Moreover, I consider the information of the Chernobyl accident and nuclear weapons testing [1] relevant, since according to WP:NPOV: It is important to account for all significant viewpoints on any topic. You are free to create Electricity sector in the Soviet Union if you wish. I really do not understand what nuclear weapons testing has to do with electricity. Is there a single word about nuclear weapons in Electricity sector of the United States or Electricity sector in the People's Republic of China? No, there isn't. The reason: it's completely irrelevant to the article subject. Nanobear (talk) 18:33, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I concur with the view that nuclear weapons are not relevant to the topic at all. As for the Chernobyl event, it might be mentioned of course, but what is important is not the accident itself, but rather how this accident affected the development of electricity sector in Russia (pause in the nuclear energy program for about a decade). So I have removed the contested additions for now, but I'd appreciate if more detailed and well-focused account of history of the nuclear energy as part of electricity sector is added. Nuclear accidents and nuclear weapons[edit]

Wikipedia:Neutral point of view: “ As a general rule, do not remove sourced information from the encyclopedia. Nanobear and GreyHood, the chapters of nuclear accidents and nuclear weapons [2] are in my opinion core aspects of nuclear power. The chapter of nuclear accidents has an acceptably source by Al Gore: Our Choice, A plan to solve the climate crises, 2009). Energy and nuclear waepons (defence) are connected, e.g. the French Atomic Energy Commissariat (CEA) works both on energy and defence technology.France’s Nuclear Failures page 2 Watti Renew (talk) 14:42, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

History section[edit]

The current history section makes it sound like electricity first appeared in Russia in the 1990s. Is there another article I am missing about electricity in the USSR, and is there any info on when each city was first connected to the grid? If there it, maybe it should be summarized here with a "main article" link. Otherwise can someone add some basic info? It seems pretty hard to find. —Ynhockey (Talk) 12:03, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Unified Energy System of Russia[edit]

The map shows occupied Crimea as part of Russia. Since the annexation is not recognised by the world the map should be replaced or removed. 146.247.130.173 (talk) 10:32, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
