Elaine S. EdwardsElaine Edwards – Obvious WP:PRIMARYTOPIC as "Elaine Edwards" redirects to the current title, and other uses are in a disambiguation pageArbor to SJ (talk) 19:36, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). TonyBallioni (talk) 04:05, 24 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Arbor to SJ: The title isn't a matter of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC since that is already established. The concern/question that needs to be answered is ... is "Elaine Edwards" without the "S." middle initial the WP:COMMONNAME for the subject? From what I'm seeking, it looks like sources that refer to the subject of the article use the "S." middle initial when referring to the subject of the article. Support move, with the following evidence: My Google search for "Sen. Elaine Edwards" returned several news sources from her (brief) Senate career using that form.

Also, here is an example of a scholarly source using "Elaine Edwards": The 1972 CQ Almanac by Congressional Quarterly [3].

Furthermore, searching google for "Senator Elaine Edwards" ("Senator" in full) returns results like the September 22, 1972 issue of Life magazine that captions a photo of the senator, "Interim Senator Elaine Edwards" with an article that does not use her middle initial at all. Also, Getty Images [4] and the US House of Representatives Historian [5] omit her middle initial. Arbor to SJ (talk) 04:33, 24 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
