This page should not be speedily deleted because... the person it represents was real. He is only a possible candidate for being Blackbeard. But, Edward Thache Jr. of Spanish Town, Jamaica was indeed a real person. This is proven and documented by “Born in Jamaica, of Very Creditable Parents” or “A Bristol Man Born”? Excavating the Real Edward Thache, “Blackbeard the Pirate” publication date Jul 2015, North Carolina Historical Review, VOLUME XCII • NUMBER 3 • JULY 2015. I see no reason why more than one candidate for a character known to have so little known about his early life cannot be included for general discussion.
