Verification / Inaccurate / Cite Sources Tag[edit]

Hmmm... Well, I assembled my part of the article from various publications, mixed in with common knowledge and maybe a bit of personal experience (OK, quite a lot really). I can only think of one way of verifying the accuracy of the article, and even that won't work because it will be different for everybody, and will work for some but not for others :-)

OK, I realise that it's not in the usual mould of Wikipedia sexology articles (i.e. it's written from the female POV - which I can't help; it deals with 'mainstream' sexuality and doesn't mention anal sex once) but I hope it's better than the original stub.

I'll wait to see if the tag stays there for a week or so, then collapse the page back down to the original stub as it was before I started work on it. Presumably this was perfection itself in your eyes.

OK on 'stiff wobbley legs'. Not recommended for tightrope walkers or figure skaters :-) 160.84.253.241 08:17, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it's a problem with not being factual, but that it lacks references, and reads in my opinion more like a "How to" guide. See Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Verifiability - material shouldn't be based on personal experience, but published sources. Mdwh 22:58, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK, just rip out whatever you don't like, or take it back down to the stub. I don't mind, or really care. I'm off somewhere else now. (Unwatch) 160.84.253.241 08:13, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Page opened up to encompass all aspects of the term[edit]

Have made edits to open up the page to the full aspects of the term orgasm control. This not only applies to one technique, but to many, in many disciplines and practices. To focus on only one, as the page did, limits its full potential. 'Orgasm control' doesn't seem like a term that can be applied to one data-point at the exclusion of others, it is too general and not a term that can be copyrighted or trademarked. Earlier comments, the above comment was written after these three[edit]

Thanks a lot to 160.84.253.241 for expanding on my original stub. If you are reading this would you mind telling me which publications you used? My primary sources for the stub were "The Joy of Sex" and various web sites which can't really be cited. I'd hate to delete everything that isn't in the Joy of Sex, because it's getting to be an old book now (1972). The article is getting better but I'd like to answer Mdwh's criticisms at some point, and get rid of the tag. Caviare 10:38, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think this article mixes too many concepts. However, I've done my best to clean it up. This article seems to be discussing multiple concepts: a term that refers to controlling another partner in the context of bondage, and uses a term that means to control ejaculation (as in premature ejaculation), and also one of many techniques used in DOing, expanded orgasm and orgasmic meditation (i.e. peaking) as well. It also refers to expanded orgasm in a way that is grossly inaccurate. Comparing it to extended orgasm is not correct, although orgasm control, in any of the senses described above, could be used to create an extended orgasm, but it might not. I looked up the Bodansky reference and it is not a reference to orgasm control, it doesn't even mention it on the pages described. The discussion of expanded orgasm and orgasmic meditation add nothing to the discussion of Orgasm Control. The references to BDSM are not needed as they are telling you what Orgasm control is not, not what it is. (delicasso)--Delicasso (talk) 06:30, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You might look to "Any Man Can" by Dr William Hargman, and Marilyn Fithian as a source. For example, they conclude practitioners (male) enter a self-hypnotic state to achieve multiple orgasms generally without ejaculation.Zinbarg (talk) 05:32, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Audio file[edit]

I have removed the recent addition of the audio file of a woman masturbating. This does not appear to be encyclopedic content. Yobol (talk) 14:04, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

We should mention the orgasm control techniques from neo-tantra and sexual taoism[edit]

These practices are mostly to improve the energy level, and they can of course make intercourse longer. It's mostly about breathing, moving and making sounds. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AlexandreQuessy (talkcontribs) 04:42, 29 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Confusion in title[edit]

This article seems to confuse orgasm with ejaculation! Shouldn't the title be Ejaculation control instead of the present title? Also some info on orgasms without ejaculation must be added to article.--82.137.10.101 (talk) 23:17, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I bring below a block of text from a reversion edit by Flyer22 Reborn :— Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.137.10.101 (talk) 23:48, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:ONUS, the onus is on you. The refractory period (sex) is usually defined by a man not being able to have another orgasm, not "another ejaculation." And either way, male orgasm and ejaculation are almost aways tied together.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 23:37, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that they are almost aways tied together (orgasm and ejaculation) is not a reason to confuse them. Regarding the WP:VER this article is rather lacking in cited sources. The article should not display confusions.--82.137.10.101 (talk) 00:05, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:Common name. Also see WP:Verifiability. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 00:20, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Also, this article is not only about males. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 00:21, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Does this ridiculous sexual fad/craze/trend/whatever really deserve a page on Wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.41.88.226 (talk) 17:06, 16 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, since it meets the WP:GNG. -- The Anome (talk) 08:24, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Bold words, especially considering that to label edging a "sexual fad/craze/trend/whatever" does not take into account the many people who were doing and have been practicing edging and ejaculation/orgasm control long before it became more well known. Just because more people are talking about something and spreading knowledge of something does not immediately make it a "fad/craze/trend/whatever," and as User:The Anome mentioned, it meets general notability guidelines.

Missing link between edging and breast enlargement[edit]

I was unable to find any studies or even mentions at all of "breast enlargement" or the generation of additional "breast tissue" through edging in human females.

Due to the lack of sources to support the claim, not even low quality sources, I am forced to believe the presence of these arguments in the article is either due to trolling or to a breast expansion fetish from the author.

This is why I have removed any categorical assertions linking edging to breast enlargement from the first part of the article, and I'm asking with this post for further discussion on this issue.

In my consideration, sources should be provided that back up these claims to avoid their inminent removal. 90.167.255.199 (talk) 21:23, 24 August 2023 (UTC) hi — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.36.175.139 (talk) 22:08, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
