Prod[edit]

For what it is worth, the first hit in a Google search for "East Ukraine" is from The Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2004/nov/29/ukraine so the subject is clearly recognised by mainstream media. And of course there is Western Ukraine and Central Ukraine while Eastern Ukraine is a redirect to Donets Basin. Hmm. Looks like that Prod needs to go. And as they are all Disambiguation pages it is difficult to see how they could be merged into Ukraine where in any case Ukraine#Regionalism seems somewhat, er, sanitised. -Arb. Name[edit]

Honestly, I do believe that the current title "East Ukraine" is an inappropriate title for the article. It sort of implies that it is more a political division than merely a geographic one (although the eastern portions of the country do hold their own respective national political views). I suggest that we move this article to "Eastern Ukraine," also to correspond with the article on Western Ukraine (no such West Ukraine article. _dsergienko 23:04, 24 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Language law[edit]

At present, it is stated that "However, on 23 February 2014, the law on regional languages was abolished, making Ukrainian the sole state language at all levels even in Eastern Ukraine." But, as stated in the Wikipedia entry "Legislation on languages in Ukraine", the repeal of the old law was vetoed: "A proposal to repeal the law was vetoed on 28 February 2014 by acting President Oleksandr Turchynov, who ordered drafting of a new law to "accommodate the interests of both eastern and western Ukraine and of all ethnic groups and minorities." " So the law on regional languages is still in effect. Could someone correct the Wikipedia entry for Eastern Ukraine?Comvoice2 (talk) 22:01, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sufficient justification for a disambiguation page?[edit]

There is a push on another wikipedia to have this topic turned into a disambiguation page, with the first line of such an article saying
«Eastern Ukraine (ukrainsk: Східна Україна, russisk: Восточная Украина) is the Eastern part of Ukraine.»
The justification for that is "this seems appropriate, correct, and quite sufficient". Could such a justification be adequate for Wikipedia in English to consider its article to become a disambiguation page? In particular I find that sufficient, might be overstating things somewhat. 178.232.135.252 (talk) 10:37, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That version of the article has only one complete sentence (which is quoted above). 89.8.12.215 (talk) 10:50, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
