As of Sept. 15 2020 the article states that the Polish religious tradition of blessing Easter baskets originates from the 7th century. However this is anachronistic, since Poland adopted Christianity in the 10th century. This error appears to be an mistranslation of the Polish wikipedia page (https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%9Awi%C4%99conka), which states that the blessing of Easter foods originated outside of Poland in the 7th century. The page states that the first documented evidence of the tradition in Poland is in the 13th and 14th century. Not to take away from my Polish friends, but this tradition is actually common in Germany and Austria (de:Speisensegnung), Ukraine (uk:Свячене), Croatia (hr:Hrvatski uskrsni običaji), etc., etc. Between the two existing articles, there's only enough information for one good article about the tradition in general with a section on any Polish particularities. in future we can always separate the regionalisms out if the the article gets too large, but first we can better serve readers by not misleading them into thinking this tradition is solely Polish. 67kevlar (talk) 21:44, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Due to interwiki and fact that popularity of eastet basket (lately added to the template) I would like to do that but święcić in Polish means: "blessing" so we could also earlier create article about blessing food just as de:Speisensegnung (or Shinsen in other religion) . German Wikipedia did not translate subkect of święconka as "Ewster Basket in Poland" but "Easter blessing food in Poland". TLDR: I support megre but first we could also use oportunity to create an article about blwssing food.
I also atrongly disagree with title of the discussion. That święconka should be merged in Easter Basket, not Easter Baskwt in Święconka as Easter Basket is wieder topic Dawid2009 (talk) 09:17, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
BTW in terms of easter, Excatly the same issue is with śmigus-dyngus which should be changed into Wet Monday, I guess earlier was similar issue with Songkran, paradozically article about the śmigus-dyngus is less polocentric on PLwiki than on ENwiki Dawid2009 (talk) 09:23, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
