The statement 'authentication systems like shibboleth are far in the future' is either ambiguous or wrong. Shibboleth exists and is widely used (dominating federated access for higher education in the UK and widely used in the US). It has not yet removed the need for EZPRoxy, so maybe the sentence should read 'Authentication systems like Shibboleth have not removed the need for EZProxy in many situations', though that is clunky.
