Frederick Coles[edit]

Frederick Coles included Dunnideer in one of his papers which have nice sketches (and are out of copyright). Coles, Frederick (1902) [First published 30-11-1902]. "Report on Stone Circles in Aberdeenshire (Inverurie, Eastern Parishes, and Insch Districts), with measured Plans and Drawings, obtained under the Gunning Fellowship". Proceedings of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. 36 (1901): 537–538. Thincat (talk) 08:06, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

More information[edit]

I'll be putting in a bit more information and for me the easiest will be put it straight into the article. Please edit, remove, etc. as you think fit. Thincat (talk) 17:44, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm thinking all this John Leslie stuff is too florid for an encyclopedia article. Welfare uses it (with attribution and reduced to "A wondirful gret croune of stanes") right at the beginning of his book and Leslie was specifically referring to Dunnideer stone circle which is therefore the first monument to be mentioned. Do remove this if it doesn't fit in. Thincat (talk) 19:08, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I came to the talk first and thought you meant John Leslie (TV presenter)! Thanks for adding stuff to the article. I still need to read into the sources, I've been mostly travelling last days. To me the info seems ok, happy to see what other people think. By the way I've seen now how monolith infoboxes are done and I like the extra map so I'll add it here.
