Discussing the extension of the Duchy[edit]

The "discuss" sign marks the sentence about the Duchy of Milan extending from Piedmont to the lagoon of Venice at its outset. This is accurate. For a time, the Duchy comprised most of Northern Italy. Italian pre-unity states, however, were very quarrelsome and Milan's conquests did not last long.Pan Brerus (talk) 17:16, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The shores of the Venetian Lagoon were under the control of Venice and Padua. The Visconti only controlled Padua until 1390, Padua was under the da Carraras in 1395 when the Duchy of Milan was created. Venice annexed Padua in 1405. 123.243.215.92 (talk) 05:51, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Holy Roman Empire[edit]

Duchy of Milan - How long does it belong to it ? --93.104.167.203 (talk) 20:09, 10 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Duchy of Milan part of Spain? Not really.[edit]

The Spanish Monarch Charles Quint was crowned Holy Roman Emperor which made Duchy of Milan inhabitants part of his subjects but not of his territory. The Holy Roman Empire was the European Union you see today with its rotating presidents from different countries in Europe. The Holy Roman Empire had monarchs from Germany, Austria and Charles Quint who was the Spanish Monarch at that time (actually he was Dutch) but it does not mean that the Duchy of Milan was part of Germany, Austria or Spain. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Correctman (talkcontribs) 19:40, 27 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
