Famous citizens[edit]

Other famous citizens include Garrett Gomez, one of the leading jockeys in America. 4.232.186.161 06:02, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Subjective language[edit]

"Correct" Spanish pronounciation - "Correct" is a value judgement. 4.232.186.161 06:02, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gemco vs. Target[edit]

The Big Sky Theater was the site of a redevelopment centered around a GEMCO. Only after Lucky stores had to spin off its Gemco division in order to avoid hostile a takeover did the location close. Target bought up many of these former Gemcos, including the Duarte location. Unlike stores built by Target to be Target stores, the building features a blue-tiled facade, something typical of Gemco stores. Target's "official" color is red. 4.232.186.161 06:02, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Walmart[edit]

The article refers to the beginning of redevelopment in Duarte. Walmart came well over a decade after the Gemco store, well after the car dealerships, well after the new town center, and therefore does not really represent the BEGINNING of redevelopment. 4.232.186.161 06:02, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Santa Teresita Hospital[edit]

Someone needs to update the references to Santa Teresita--the hospital's been closed for years, so it can hardly be considered one of the finest in the area (not that it ever was, and this should never have been in the Wikipedia article to begin with.) 4.232.186.161 06:02, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Santa Teresita is NOT closed! Its Emergency Room is closed, but not the hospital as a whole. User:Udibi 06:23, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree;the hospital isn't closed, but now the Carmelite Sisters have announced that the focus is now on outpatient care for the seniors of Duarte...and yet the public-relations "machine" here in town insists that we say and act as if the ER is still open...ridiculous!...thanks,Baldwin91006 02:47, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've lived in Duarte for most of the last 33 years, and I've never heard or read of any public-relations "machine" insisting on such a thing. In fact, the closure of Santa Teresita's emergency room was specifically mentioned in the "Duarte View" (local newspaper published by the Duarte Chamber of Commerce) and the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, right in the middle of a wrongful death lawsuit against the hospital. -JohnAlbertRigali (talk) 06:24, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Duarte's Mexican grant documents[edit]

Alvarado was the governor who signed Duarte's Mexican grant documents, not Carillo, and only Alvarado was referred to later on after California became a state and the validity of the Mexican land grants---and of Andres Duarte's in particular---was examined by the U.S. 71.109.13.121 (talk) 01:10, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Duarte schools[edit]

Who was the person who edited the DUSD schools section and used British terms in their descriptions?...Californians use "elementary" to describe those schools that start at kindergarten and go to sixth grade, and "junior high" for those that use seventh- and eigth-grade students...Baldwin91006 (talk) 18:03, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Northview is an Intermediate School, not a junior high. It says so on the building. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.109.71.101 (talk) 01:21, 22 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Transportation[edit]

Would it be useful to add a transportation section, at least to mention the new Gold Line station? It could also include the free city bus service, highways, and the two agencies that provide intercity bus service.
