Date format for this article[edit]

In this article, should we use DMY dates (as the show is set in Europe and has a European cast) or MDY dates (as it is produced by the same American company that produces the US series)? This is also worth considering for other articles, as Canada's Drag Race and Drag Race Thailand use MDY dates, but RuPaul's Drag Race UK uses DMY dates. @Another Believer: Right, which is why I've asked: are we considering this a non-US subject? I would, since it's set in Europe and features a European cast. I just notice that this article, as well as Canada's Drag Race and Drag Race Thailand, all currently use MDY dates, so my question is: has someone deliberately treated these as US subjects for some reason (e.g. American-produced series), or was this just an oversight, meaning they should all be converted to DMY dates now? Yes, Drag Race Holland, UK, and Thailand should all feature DMY dates. The country of Canada's relationship with dates is a bit complex, but for the most part they use MDY or YMD.Gagaluv1 (talk) 15:31, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Another Believer and Gagaluv1, it sounds like we're all on the same page w/r/t using DMY for Holland, Thailand and the UK. From what I can gather, Gagaluv thinks MDY is preferable for Canada, while Another Believer prefers DMY for Canada. Date and time notation in Canada would seem to suggest both ways are fine, so I don't feel strongly either way. Maybe Bearcat could weigh in? Armadillopteryx 21:38, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Canada definitely does not have a rule that DMY is either expected or preferred over MDY — and that goes not just on Wikipedia, but in real life. MDY is definitely more common on the ground in Canada; by and large, you really only see DMY from the kind of people who argue that Canada should always follow British standards in everything all the time so as to always look as not-American as possible (i.e. exactly the kind of people who made Canadian dainty a thing.) But most of us ignore those people and just keep writing MDY anyway, and even Wikipedia does not have any rule that only the US can use MDY while everybody else is always obliged to write DMY — the rule is to follow whichever format, be it MDY or DMY, is actually more normative in the country with the strongest claim on the topic. When it comes to Canada, the conflicting interpretations have led the Canadian contingent to decide that the only actual rule we have when it comes to date formatting in Canadian articles on Wikipedia is to stick with whichever form, be it MDY or DMY, was used by the first editor ever to add a full date to the article — and in the case of Canada's Drag Race, that dictates MDY. For the Netherlands, however, I believe the norm is DMY — and the fact that it's produced in the Netherlands takes precedence over the fact that it happens to be a spinoff of an American show. (Also, CDR was produced by Bell Media and Blue Ant, not by an American company.) Bearcat (talk) 21:47, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thijslandsmeer, I'm sure someone will create English-language articles for them eventually, if they're notable, but don't feel obligated unless you're interested.
