OCMS[edit]

Perhaps the band Old Crow Medicine Show got their name from this band, can anyone verify or disprove this? Zchris87v 22:02, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The rest of Dr. Hook[edit]

I remember having this album (think it is late 80's). I lost it and now its almost unreffered to and difficult to find info about. if anybody knows about it it would be nice to include in the article. --BBird 12:01, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

looking for a show[edit]

Removed unsourced info[edit]

I've removed the last paragraph of the History section which was added on April 20 by an anonymous user. It references a song which to my knowledge does not actually exist in the band's catalog, and fails to cite a source for its claims.

I notice that the History section has no info on the band past 1980, or any details on their breakup. Anyone knowledgeable on the subject want to round this section out? TremorMilo (talk) 01:19, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Correct song title is "The Cover of _the_ Rolling Stone". Omission of 2nd "the" is erroneous.[edit]

Hi folks!

Found an error which shows up in several ways.

I've owned a copy of the single & been listening to it since the early 1980s so I am quite certain that the correct title for the song includes:

"Cover of _the_ Rolling Stone" [Emphasis added.]

rather than

"Cover of Rolling Stone"

as this article, and (apparently) the page for the song, record instead.

Prior to this wikipedia article I have never seen this song title written in the shorter form.

It appears you might have confused the lyrics with the title. While the best-known part of the lyrics does go exactly the way you described, the album cover for the single says

The Cover of "Rolling Stone"

with no "the" before "Rolling".

If you argued that the title ought to match the lyrical hook, I'd be on your side ... but it doesn't. TooManyFingers (talk) 15:32, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Solo Projects section[edit]

I have removed the solo projects section as it was redundant (the only people mentioned were Sawyer and Locorriere, both of whom have individual Wikipedia pages) and 90% of it appeared to be a blatant press release/advertisement for a Locorriere-as-Dr-Hook tour. The information about the respective Sawyer and Locorriere versions of the touring band since 1988 has been merged into the main history.

End of Dr. Hook[edit]

Anonymous users User:213.205.241.222 and User:213.205.242.249 changed multiple times that Dr. Hook stopped in 2018 (marked by the death of Ray Sawyer last week). That seems incorrect to me. The article and sources tell us that Dr. Hook split up in 1985. Both Sawyer and Locorriere toured after that year under the name Dr. Hook, but it seems to me this doesn't mean the band reunited and continued to exist. 2018 as an end date can never be right; Sawyer wasn't the lead singer of Dr. Hook and had his last tour in 2015 (and left Dr. Hook already in 1983), but Locorriere is still alive and has announced a new Dr. Hook-tour for 2019.
