The lightweight body makes use of another DaimlerChrysler innovation - injection-molded thermoplastic technology that achieves significant improvements in weight and cost.

What? :-)

DaimlerChrysler vs Chrysler[edit]

I checked up on the patents and work involved in these cars and they were all done by the Chrysler - Detroit folk. I would argue that we should credit these innovations, such as they were, particularly the electromechanical transmission, to Chrysler Group rather than DaimlerChrysler since it appears to have been an entirely internal project not involving the Daimler group at all.Davert (talk) 21:04, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merger Proposal[edit]

The Chrysler ESX-3 was branded as the Intrepid ESX III. Therefore they should be merged to avoid confusion.

The assertion that the ESX is going on sale is utterly incorrect. Dodge has no immediate hybrid plans beyond the two-mode hybrid Durango. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.8.194.181 (talk) 16:58, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The prototype ESX went for a weight reduction as well as a radically different drivetrain. Bolder Technologies built the battery pack, a DIESEL ( NOT gasoline ) engine ran a constant speed alternator to replenish the batteries and the drive motors were powered from the battery. A thermoplastic body shell was used in the ESX prototype for further weight reduction ( but was impractical for a production vehicle at that time..)

If no one objects, I will edit the ESX I data to reflect what we at Bolder Technologies knew about the ESX I since we designed and supplied the battery pack for it....
