My eyes glaze over with all those equations - and I can handle it, being an engineer and all. But, Gah! Yuck! :-)

Stability is about the tendency to return to a starting point after a disturbance from it (and to stay there dynamically), that's all. It's just that simple. Directional stability is stability about a vertical axis. Everything else is just example. No need to digress.

I will trim some of the car stuff after a suitable waiting period for rebuttal.
