The link here that claims to be for the official magazine site is actually pointing to a sleazy site selling magazine subscriptions. Cheap stunt. Not cool. 500,000 circulation? Can anyone corroborate this? That sounds very high for a magazine of this nature.

Fair use rationale for Image:Detailsmag.jpg[edit]

Image:Detailsmag.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Current version is V3[edit]

Details went through three versions.

Version 1, in the 1980s, was a magazine for very "in" clubgoers, mostly in NYC. Stephen Saban and Michael Musto wrote up events in the hot clubs of the period. It wasn't a "men's magazine". "In the 1980s, the men's fashion magazine "Details" was something quite different - an East Village art/punk fashion monthly that was entirely in black and white (sometimes even the cover) and very devoted to covering the gossip of the downtown scene in New York City at the time." [1] Dianne Brill was mentioned a lot back then. Now she sells lip gloss.
Version 2, in the 1990s, was sort of a dud.
Version 3, the current version, is a men's fashion magazine.

I would actually say that version 1 was predominately a women's underground fashion magazine. Version 2 was retooled more toward men in their 20's. While I agree it was more or less a dud, it did spawn Wild Palms. - Artificial Silence (talk) 05:11, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-existent references[edit]

There are problems with all but the first reference, which does not point to a web page:

    (2) Page not found
    (3) Opens to a blank page (i.e., nothing there, but doesn't show an error)
    (4) Nothing specific to Details Magazine
    (5) Page not found

I have changed, but never removed footnote references, and felt I didn't have the experience to do so for these problems.
