Requested Move[edit]

This more a suggestion than a request. I feel the name I propose, besides being the official name of the line, is more descriptive for people outside of the Derby area. I am in the process of writing articles for all the stations along the line and have some input to the article itself.Chevin (talk) 15:12, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but was this ever done? What was the page title before?
Derbyshire and Staffordshire extension isn't very specific, is it. Shouldn't "railway" be in there somewhere, if not Great Northern Railway??

Errors[edit]

The line diagram suggests that Nottingham to Gedling Colliery via Netherfield remains open yet clearly on Google Earth it has long been removed. Dates are difficult to come by. Does anyone have accurate information since the closure of the Mapperley tunnel and when this line closed? And the map needs updating to reflect this. AsparagusTips, Shannon States that the Colliery closed in the early 1990s, but that the branch was "...restored at a cost of £500,000 for a similar flow [stockpiled coal] in 1998."[1] The 2005 edition of Trackmaps Midlands shows the line as extant, but disused beyond the first 23 chains (1,500 ft; 460 m).[2] The 2013 (next) edition shows all traces of the line removed.[3] Not entirely accurate, but some pointers.
