Coordinate error[edit]

{{geodata-check}}

The following coordinate fixes are needed for Denton Burn. Denton Burn is actually south of the West Road in the ward of Benwell and Scotswood. North of the West Road is the ward of Fenham. The river (or Burn) used to run to the east of Denton Burn library, down to the river. It was formed by the surface water running down the West Road hill (east), from Slatyford (north) and the Hexham road (west). The Burn is now incorporated in the waste water system underground.

Improved — As you say, I can find no evidence for DB to be north of West Road, except for one row of houses in the original village. According to the 19th Century maps available here the original village of Denton Burn was on the four corners of the intersection here: 54°59′00″N 1°41′17″W / 54.9834688°N 1.6879731°W / 54.9834688; -1.6879731. In later maps viewable at that site, the name was eventually moved to include areas both east and west of what is now the A1 south of West Road. I've moved the coordinates south of West Road.
