Please add british actor Neal Arden who passed away on June 4, 2014. I know it is a Facebook-page but in lack of other obituaries it could do until further notice. It is the official page of the The Regimental Association of the BSA Police - United Kingdom Branch and does contain even funeral information. The information has been automatically removed from his page but readded by me and others. What does Wikipedia rules say in this kind of situation? Please clarify as it is annoying to have to readd information over and over again.

İzzet Özilhan?[edit]

Hey, I'm having an issue here. Apparently, a very notable Turkish figure died but I can't read Turkish, and Google Translate is too vague; all of the media reports so far are only published in Turkish. The man's name was İzzet Özilhan, but did he also go by Tuncay Özilhan? Earlier, someone on that article added that he died, so I did a Google search and turned up with these results.

Some links to media reports: 1, 2, and many, many more if you search his name and set the time frame to the past 24 hours.

Either way, his death is obviously notable enough for inclusion in the Wiki, but I have no idea what name to list him under... or even which day he died.

I'm sorry if I'm unclear, I just got up from a long day at work yesterday and haven't had my coffee yet. Thanks! TCMemoire 17:15, 22 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

He does not seem to have an article in the Turkish Wikipedia, so notability is not clear. WWGB (talk) 02:02, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It is his father. He is notable but there are no Wiki links I can put in for the Turkish Industrialist Group that includes an airline, soccer club, automotive manufacturer (in conjunction with one of the Japanese manufacturers) and several other enterprises. I usually only put in CEO and Chairmans if there is an available blue link to link them to the corporation or to a significant section of their business in the case of a subsidiary.Sunnydoo (talk) 11:22, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Just a tip that helps out sometimes digging through this stuff. The easiest way sometimes when the translation isnt so good is to work off the birth information and dates to help straighten out the lineage. Once you get that nailed down, it is usually pretty apparent who is whom.Sunnydoo (talk) 11:25, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, okay. Thanks for the help, everyone! TCMemoire 19:04, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Request - June 24[edit]

Done. We dont use the term accident because of the assumptions it makes, so it is put in as a suspected drowning until the coroner rules exactly what happened. Also could not find any indication he was born in Japan, but will keep looking for that.Sunnydoo (talk) 02:28, 26 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fred Brown and reverted edit[edit]

Evidently, someone forgot to read WP:COMMONSENSE. As it pertains to Alaska, see Article 2, Section 3 of the Alaska Constitution, as well as Alaska Statutes 24.05.080. I'm sure this is the case with most, if not all, other states; there have even been editnotices to that effect at various points following general elections. If we're here merely to lazily parrot corporate media dis/misinformation, then why am I fucking around on this website? I can just go to their websites instead. BTW, can I say that Matt Buxton is a notorious Democratic Party apologist/shill, or is someone going to throw BLP in my face? Anyway, his piece in the FDNM (here, since the URL wasn't included in the article) states in the text "Brown, who died at Denali Center in Fairbanks at age 70, served in the Alaska House for four terms and was first elected in 1974.", while the captions of two of the four sidebar photos state "Brown served in the Alaska Legislature from 1975 to 1982.". Missing from that piece is the fact that in 1982, redistricting changed District 20 from an at-large district covering the entire Fairbanks North Star Borough and a few outlying areas, to one covering just central Fairbanks. Brown lost reelection to Republican John Ringstad, also a local boy (page 30). It was halfway common in those days for lame duck legislators to resign their office before their term ended, but there's no mention of such in Brown's case (page 59). Speaking of being truer to the source than to common sense: while the sources do agree that Brown graduated from the University of Alaska, on Wikipedia, that term redirects to University of Alaska System, which is an administrative entity that does not award earned degrees (the Board of Regents awards a small handful of honorary degrees every now and then). What Brown graduated from has been known as the University of Alaska Fairbanks since 1975. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 22:10, 30 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bob Hastings[edit]

Bob Hastings died on June 30. Some sources say from prostate cancer; some from pancreatic cancer. Does anyone know for sure? A quick check by me uncovered more indicating prostate cancer. But, once a source is published (even if erroneous), I think many other sources simply parrot that. Does anyone know for sure what happened in his case? Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 00:31, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Actually the original source messed it up. The Burbank Leader reported the initial death to everyone, but listed the death as pancreatic cancer. They have since retracted that article and corrected the error. Several others including TV Guide, Variety, etc etc ran the story from Burbank and that is what caused the confusion. His granddaughter put out a statement this afternoon trying to clear up the confusion. The CoD was a 3 time, 15 year battle with prostate cancer.Sunnydoo (talk) 06:16, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 21:25, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Upside down[edit]

Hi. Would somebody please explain why this article's entries are still technically "upside down" ("30th to 1st, top to bottom"), instead of how they should be, despite me messaging the editor who made the move from the current month to this archive version? As we know, it should read "1st to 30th, top to bottom". Thanks. 86.112.67.18 (talk) 15:45, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
