Changeover to Deaths in 2016[edit]

Just a heads-up to contributing editors that the seven-day "overlap" period at the end of each month does not usually apply at the end of December.

The reason is that Recent Deaths on the front page of Wikipedia is pointed to Deaths in 2016 from January 1. This means that deaths from that date need to be reported on Deaths in 2016, rather than staying on Deaths in 2015 for the first seven days (which does not make sense in a new year anyway). Carol Burns: "Prisoner" changed to "Prisoner: Cell Block H", the title used outside Australia[edit]

For the Australian actress Carol Burns, I changed Prisoner to Prisoner: Cell Block H in reference to the role. As Prisoner (TV series) explains, the name was changed for broadcast in the US, Canada and the UK. This was a result of legal action by the producers of the UK series The Prisoner. So to avoid continued confusion, I think it is best to use the international title. I don't think it's necessary to mention the existence of an alternate title, as that information is available by clicking through the wikilink. Roches (talk) 23:22, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. Prisoner is an iconic Australian TV series known fondly and only by that name in its home country. The issue that some overseas markets rebadged the program should not detract from its identity. This is the same matter as Evil Angels (film) which lives under its original title despite overseas rebadging. WWGB (talk) 23:56, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I understand and agree with the change back to the original title. My attempt to internationalize the entry shouldn't detract from how Burns is remembered in her home country. The difficulty is always in keeping the entries very short, which is why I didn't use wording like "Australian actress known for her role in the Australian TV series Prisoner". Burns' involvement with the Queensland Theatre Company could be included as well: "founding member and patron of the Queensland Theatre Company", for example. No mention of his passing ? ? ? He confounded "Good guys Rod & Custom Association." He passed away December 27, 2015, of natural causes at age 76 in his Phoenix, AZ, home. The Association organizes car shows (over 700 since its creation) and has over 70,000 members. His obit was in the Dec. 30, 2015, edition of The Arizona Republic newspaper on page 8A (upper left corner).68.231.83.123 (talk) 07:37, 31 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I fully understand why you have asked the question here, regarding Meadors. As someone who generated many hits on internet searches, especially after his passing, he would easily have qualified in a current month/year "Deaths" article. However, because this page has now been archived, and will be cleared of all redlink entries which do not have their own articles (bluelinks), I don't see the point of adding him now. Because he certainly does not pass notability criteria for his own Wikipedia article, although anyone is welcome to try and then add his name here. Thanks.
