Neutrality Dispute[edit]

Someone has placed a neutrality dispute flag on the article, however no dispute has been identified here. If no one identifies the issue, I will assume it was placed erroneously and remove the banner. Holzman-Tweed (talk) 17:04, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In the absence of a neutrality dispute being identified, I am removing the neutrality dispute flag. Holzman-Tweed (talk) 20:24, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth[edit]

My research tends to lean towards 1949 as his year of birth, not 1951. Anyone care to investigate further?

Coverdale was born in 1951, not 1949. He mentioned on tour in 2006 that he was soon to turn 55, thus, his year of birth is (if we do the math properly, is probably not) 1949.

my father went to school with him, born 1951 Dean Harrison

I've just read a recent comment on his website, in his own words, he states that his 57th birthday is in 2008. September 22nd

POV[edit]

The article is littered with POV statements, and does not have any references, citations etc. It needs a major overhaul. I added {{tl:POV}} and {{tl:References}} stubs accordingly.

I see your point, I will remove some of the content I've added that are of "narrative" nature. I will also reference any further edits. I do get carried away sometimes and I'm also new to Wiki.

Removed grade 4 book report styled content[edit]

The "co-writer guitarist" content has been removed as it looks very 'schoolboy book report' and adds nothing to WP that isn't here already. The Real Libs-speak politely 16:44, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Instruments[edit]

@Austin T Dalyai: I can not believe you keep reverting this, have you not read the template guidelines ? Coverdale is most widely known as a vocalist, I'm not saying he don't play guitar or piano, I'm saying (and the guidelines say) secondary instruments should be brought up in prose. Since you will not start a discussion I will. Mlpearc (open channel) 22:55, 9 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring won't provide a solution. Debate here probably will. Infoboxes should contain only the key information on a subject. Coverdale is overwhelmingly known as a vocalist, and I agree with Mlpearc and Drmies that that's the optimal description to go into his infobox. --RexxS (talk) 00:43, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note: There is also a discussion on the same topic at Talk:Lady Gaga, I suggested that any further comments should be here, just to keep the discussion in one spot. Mlpearc (open channel) 01:04, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • User:Mlpearc, these decisions should be made on a case-by-case basis, so let's decide on Lady Gaga on her talk page. Thanks. Drmies (talk) 14:26, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Drmies, This I know, I was merely letting others know there other discussions regarding the same topic. Mlpearc (open channel) 18:09, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Image changes[edit]

First, @Crovata:, I am not editwarring, I disagree with your changes without discussion, my concerns are consensus for the images changes, mainly the infobox. Mlpearc (open channel) 17:10, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Mlpearc: I understand the need for consensus for more notable personalities (including music artists), but in the case of D. Coverdale where's the issue? There's obvious lack of interest for article editing, and of quality images. You think (personal impression due to reverts) that the image [1] is better than [2] for the infobox? I think that the second is more recent, has better angle, and the face is clearly visible compared to the first, which makes it more suitable to be used for the "profile" ie. infobox.--Crovata (talk) 17:28, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Vibrant, caring, and loving stage persona"[edit]

In the lede, it says "Coverdale is known in particular for his powerful, blues-tinged voice as well as his vibrant, caring, and loving stage persona". The source is an anonymous review that looks like it came from a blog somewhere. The part about the "powerful, blues-tinged voice" should be easy enough to find a credible source for. The part about "vibrant, caring, and loving stage persona" - well, I must admit, that isn't the first thing that comes to mind ;-) KaldeFakta68 (talk) 11:31, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
