Actually I was lenient. It would have easily qualified for speedy deletion at the time - in fact, another editor actually slapped a speedy tag on it a bit later. By the way, don't remove speedy-delete tags. If you want to contest the speedy, add a {{hangon}} tag, which lets admins know that you object. However, with the addition of the links and explanatory text, the article is now out of speedy-delete territory, though some of our pickier editors might still think the subject isn't notable, particularly after the end of the current Idol series.
