Speedy Delete declined[edit]

According to the article's history: it was started by Carrothex in January 2018 (see here). The same user proposed its speedy deletion, on 9 February 2022 (here). The deletion was contested by Explicit about 2 hours later (here). Disregarding protocol User:Carrothex effectively blanked the article, here. I had added content, reviews of the artist's music and reliable sources to support these. This was all removed. Following standard procedure, I reverted the most recent edit by Carrothex. I have asked the user to discuss these matters here to try to reach a consensus over the article's status.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 00:13, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

While independent articles exist about the musician, he does not meet any of the criterion set out in Wikipedia:Notability (music) - as the original author of this page I am certain of this. I am also in close contact with the subject, who is no longer active in this space and wishes for the page to be deleted. Carrothex (talk)

I dispute your contention that the artist does not meet Wikipedia:Notability (music). He passes at criterion #1 and #11. He may no longer be active but that is not sufficient reason to delete his article. Furthermore, you claim to have a close connection to the artist. You should read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and your responsibilities in regards to such connections. You have been editing at WP for over ten years and should be aware its policies and guidelines. Please do not change the article further until the nature of your connection is resolved. Once that has been determined you may be required to make edit requests at related articles' talkpages but not to edit those articles directly.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 01:17, 10 February 2022 (UTC)10:17, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WP:PROD of article[edit]

@Carrothex: Knowing that a discussion was occurring over the status of this article, you have decided to pre-empt the resolution of that discussion by using Wikipedia:Proposed deletion. However, this was not indicated in your edit summary at the article, (here). This behaviour causes concern, do you want to work out the issues with the article? Will you abide by a consensus of editors? I believe you should remove the PROD while we continue to discuss these matters civilly.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 01:44, 10 February 2022 (UTC)01:45, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Shaidar cuebiyar: While a couple of notability requirements may technically be met, the artist's notability in practice is very low and will continue to diminish. Most artists at a similar tier in Australia do not have separate pages - it's simply unnecessary. Also, much of the information on this page does not relate to his career as a musician, and some of the recently added information is either totally wrong or inaccurate. It is suggested that instead of having his own page the artist and his releases are mentioned on his label's page (Future Classic) - which is more in-line with how an Australian artist in this tier is generally treated.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Carrothex (talkcontribs) 02:10, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Carrothex: You now admit that notability requirements have been met. In that case, the article should be improved by reducing any "wrong or inaccurate" content using reliable independent sources. Could you clarify the extent of your connection with the artist? This enables editors to determine whether your edits should be treated as a Conflict of Interest or not. Also the article is on Daniel Ahern not just on Bus Vipers, so content about his non-music career should also be included and updated to current events.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 03:10, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A series of edits by 203.2.218.131 have significantly changed the article (see here). The user is registered at Australian Broadcasting Corporation, which includes a national radio network. Ahern is the FBi Radio programme director. These edits may constitute an Apparent Conflict of Interest as ABC and FMi Radio are direct competitors for their radio audiences. I have asked the user to return the deleted material.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:18, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Shaidar cuebiyar: I have just seen these edits. All are reasonable and clearly explain which rules they are following. There is no conflict of interest as Ahern is no longer employed at FBi Radio - check their current staff list.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Carrothex (talkcontribs) 08:09, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It is still an apparent conflict of interest because ABC and FBi Radio were competitors. 203.2.218.131 edits have made this article is weaker. An ABC registered user has weaken this article. Does not this worry you? Furthermore, is there a ref for when Ahern left FBi Radio?shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:13, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of Interest[edit]

Both Carrothex and 203.2.218.131 appear to have Conflict of Interest with this article.

  1. Carrothex As indicated above, started this article in January 2018 with the edit summary, "This is a new entry for recent Future Classic signee Bus Vipers. Future Classic is the largest independent record label in Australia home to artists including Flume and Chet Faker. Ahern also directs FBi Radio - the largest community radio station in Aus." The user has stated above, "I am also in close contact with the subject, who is no longer active in this space and wishes for the page to be deleted."
  2. 203.2.218.131 details above besides problems competing between ABC Radio and FBi Radio. There is also a conflict of interest between ABC Music and Bus Vipers' music career.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 10:17, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
