This page should be watched. Moyo, ONE and other critics on both sides are in disagreement about many policy aspects of this book. Further edits may be necessary to remove bias from this entry. It is suggested that, in accordance with the living person biography policy, that controversial information not be added to this entry, unless it is contributed by someone who is not biased and can demonstrate verifiable information. Did some cleanup here because NPOV was nowhere in evidence and lots of unsupportable claims were being made, e.g. "She is the first African-born economist to write a book addressing the problems with aid." Definitely keep a watch on this page.--Tcnjo (talk) 19:56, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I went through and double-checked about half the given citations, and found problems with almost everyone - such as the given reference not supporting the article content, or being on an entirely different topic. Probably the most amusing was the phrase "The President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has been more luke-warm about phasing out aid" cited to a Washington Post opinion piece by Johnson-Sirleaf in which the second line includes "the global financial crisis threatens to undo this progress by reducing investment, exports and aid just as they should be expanding." I'm not sure in what world bemoaning diminishing aid amounts is the same as being "lukewarm." Heh. I also tried to give some context as this article makes it sound like pro-market economists haven't been making this exact argument for decades.

The Telegraph review of 'winner take(sic?) all' has been manipulated; the book was awarded 1/5 stars and the sentence quoted is simply the most positive in the whole piece. 86.158.214.204 (talk) 06:26, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Born 1969 in Lusaka[edit]

She is described in the box as 'Zambian' but I wonder, given her education and employment history, whether she is now a naturalised US citizen? Harvard M.A.?[edit]

Does anyone know what subject her Harvard M.A. is in? The article makes it seem like her M.A. is in economics, but I can't find an economics graduate degree offered by the Kennedy School of Government. In fact, I can't find any M.A. offer by KSG. I see an M.P.P. and an M.P.A., but no M.A.[1] If it comes from Harvard, wouldn't a Master of Arts degree be called an A.M., anyhow? --JHP (talk) 10:03, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article's infobox claimed she has a Ph.D. from Oxford, but Oxford doesn't offer a Ph.D. in economics. Their doctorate is a DPhil., not a Ph.D.[2] --JHP (talk) 10:22, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notability infobox[edit]

Someone added a notability infobox without anything here to explain why.

Copy edit[edit]

Just a heads-up that I will be performing a general copy edit of this article in the next few days. It'll consist mosly of an expansion, referencing and uncontroversial edits. I am planning to create 3 new articles on each of her books, so I will be trimming down those subsections here, placing a {{Main}} hatnote where appropriate. This entry is highly biased and should be reviewed. This is an entirely one side review of dambisa moyos work and life. Removing select questionable additions since controversy has clearly emerged.

Cleanup[edit]

I've cleaned up the article and removed all the bloat, puffery, and excess detail. The word count is now less than half of what it was previously. Therefore, I am going to remove the tags at the top. Stophorus (talk) 05:40, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
