Jargons[edit]

@Guy Harris: Hi. 😊 Just wanted to check something with you. I eliminated everything that could suggest or imply that DVD Player is a universal app. Not all the apps available on Microsoft Store are written with the UWP API. And anyway, not everyone cares. Some people care, but not everyone.

Oh, and maybe you'd like to point out that my earlier edit summary today is inaccurate. Oh, yeah, sorry for my newbie mistake. Somehow, I only saw the September 26 changes on my watchlist. I wanted to revert those only. My bad. 😜 flowing dreams (talk page) 06:08, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Flowing dreams: The version from before all of 112.206.209.79's edits said it was "a Windows Store app"; Windows Store app redirected to Universal Windows Platform apps, indicating that UWP apps were "formerly Windows Store apps and Metro-style apps". Therefore, from what you're saying, that version, even before that user's edits, was incorrect; while it could be considered a "Microsoft Store app" in the sense of being sold through the Microsoft Store, it's not a UWP app. Thus your version, saying it's "an app available from Microsoft Store", is the right one. Thanks for the additional cleanup!

And, yes, as you say, "MS Store" is, indeed, tacky and unprofessional; Microsoft doesn't call it "MS Store", so we shouldn't either. (And don't worry about saying so in the edit summary in question.) Guy Harris (talk) 15:59, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
