Railroad?[edit]

Does a railroad go through the castle? I saw the article on Conwy Railway Bridge and it looks like the bridge goes right in. --Awiseman 21:16, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No. It runs alongside. The railway bridge has been designed to complement the castle, so is "crenellated". --Dweller 13:16, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion...[edit]

I've gone through and given the article a bit of a scrub. I've added the latest academic research from 2010, and upgraded the references to the latest edition of the official history/guide book. With the extra text, I've incorporated pictures throughout the article rather than in a gallery at the end, and have added a plan of the castle. The previous version used several different citation styles; I've used a single style throughout, but if anyone feels I've gone for the wrong one, please shout. Great image[edit]

Here is an excellent image of the castle in 1961. Conway castle (5369903401)

It is a good picture, and you could add it yourself. However, I feel that there are already enough pictures in the article, none of which is an obvious candidate for replacement. Verbcatcher (talk) 14:32, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

My concern with it is that it doesn't tell us anything unique about the castle in 1961 (it looks pretty similar to today) and, although it's nice, it is a bit more drab than contemporary pictures, being in slightly grainy B&W. machicolations pic?[edit]

Wikipedia article machicolations links here, and says they were only above the main(?) gate. This article mentions the machicolations here being the oldest in Great Britain. Can we see a picture? And/or have a caption note where they are? --do ncr am 22:07, 23 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've been reading this book The Heart of North Wales, Lowe it is free to download online, and I have found relevant for sourcing information to do with Conwy castle, maybe add a 'list of constables' section and amend some prior work with more references ? Conwy Castle was built by Edward the first year 1283 - 1287 during his conquest of Wales. The castle played an important part in many wars from 1287 - 1245. Conwy castle was destroyed when all the iron and lead was shipped off. 95.140.67.32 (talk) 08:32, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
