PURA and FSURC[edit]

The Philadelphia Urban Riding Academy is not inspiration for the movie, and was formed in 2019, well before the book (Ghetto Cowboy) was written in 2011. The Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club was not directly involved, as far as I can tell, and the book was not based on any particular person, and certainly not on the man in charge of FSURC, Ellis Ferrell. The book seems to have been based on an article in Life Magazine (“Street Riders”, April 22, 2005; I couldn't find a digital copy online anywhere), but at least some of the real riders cast in the movie appear to have been affiliated with FSURC (Jamil Prattis).

PURA is directly linked to the filmmakers, and did seek donations for stables following the release of the film, but this org is not linked at all to FSURC, who also started a fundraising campaign before the film came out, in 2020.1 I'm not sure how much of this stuff is worth including in the film's article, but given some of the recent page edits (especially by PURA1), I do think it's worth laying out here. — HTGS (talk) 23:56, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
