Picture Caption NPOV[edit]

The caption under the picture of the Tanzania shell market should be changes to be more in line with Wikipedia NPOV standards. OR a section should be added to the article that addresses illegal poaching of mollusks for their shells with appropriate citations. The picture could be used in such a section. --216.16.217.241 13:57, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone who reads this, please feel free to add such a section, as long as it is properly sourced. Invertzoo (talk) 17:41, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the image mentioned, I removed it from the article. Not all the coast of Tanzania is protected so one cannot be sure these shells are poached, although they might be. For more details, see this article. Invertzoo (talk) 13:27, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Shell collecting versus conchology?[edit]

I am wondering whether Wikipedia might benefit from having an article on shell collecting, the hobby. We already have one on bird watching and one on butterfly watching. Conchology is the study of shells; that is not really the same thing as shell collecting, even though up till now these two topics have been lumped together.
